Hyperextension Deformity
Hyperextension deformity is characterized by a given joint “bending back” beyond its natural/neutral position. While the cause of this deformity is multivariate, it can substantiate presence of significant pain, discomfort and decrease in hand function and strength. Cygnet offers a number of splints in this category which can be used strictly for pain and/or joint instability/weakness management, whether hyperextension is present or not.

Anti Swan Neck Splint
May be indicated for:
• correctable joint hyperextension
• painful joints requiring stabilization/protection
*A palmar plate can be added for increased pressure distribution.
Anti Swan Neck with Unilateral or Bilateral Side Bars
May be indicated for:
• correctable joint hyperextension
• correction of lateral angulation or laxity allowing full flexion
• painful joints requiring stabilization/protection
*A palmar plate can be added for increased pressure distribution.
MCP/CMC Thumb Splint
May be indicated for:
• support and correction of MCP/CMC joint hyperextension and/or instability, while allowing for thumb mobility
*A palmar or web-space plate can be added for increased distribution of pressure and/or further correction.
MCP/CMC Thumb Splint with Radial Side Bar
May be indicated for:
• support and correction of MCP/CMC joint hyperextension and/or instability, while allowing for thumb mobility
• correction of angulation or laxity and provision of lateral stabilization
*A palmar or web-space plate can be added for increased distribution of pressure and/or further correction.
